Amritzar

After the border ceremony we returned to Amritzar. This is holy city of the Sikhs. It has to be the most amazing city on earth.
It's really crazy and hectic (in the best Indian tradition) but it also has the Golden Temple. This is one of the most beautiful and interesting place I've ever been to.
You can stay there for free (which we did, although we did give a donation later on), and you can also eat for free (24 hours a day of Dhal and Chapati!). They sure are hospitable and friendly, those Sikhs.
The temple itself is set inside an artificial pool. They are singing verses from their holy book all day long, and the whole place is swarming with Sikh pilgrims. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful place.

At night the place is even more exciting. They are still reading from the book, and the temple is lit. Just look at the photos...

On the second day, a nice family (from a nearby town) started to talk to us, and they took us on a small tour of nearby temples. On one of them you can climb, to get good views of the Golden Temple. They were really nice, and even bought us dinner...

Here's a nice Video from the temple at night, you can catch a little bit of the singing...
