Drupal 5.8

Friday, July 25th, 2008

So I finally decided to make the move - upgrade all my drupal web sites from 4.7.4 to 5.8. I have 6 of those sites. It took me several days to actually succeeded in upgrading one of them… so many small bugs and stuff to sort out. But it worked in the end.

Anyway I already upgraded u3-info and expresscard-info, and will continue to upgrade the rest.

AdSense toolbar

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

My latest toolbar (yeah, another one) is one for AdSense publishers. This one is more interesting than the last ones, because I actually coded a component in there to display your latest AdSense stats. A mini AdSenseLog, which is free… It turned out pretty cool I think ;-)

I became really fascinated with those toolbars you can easily create…

So here is my latest - the Gadgoolbar (the Gadget toolbar). Several gadgets RSS feeds and some other nice links and stuff. Enjoy! And share with your friends ;-)

OLED-Info on a toolbar

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I’ve build a toolbar for oled-info. Now you can get all oled news, and links and all in your browser. I’ve built it using Conduit, which is a terrific platform for toolbars. Cool!
Check it out!

Gmail spam filter

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

This is strange - today I found a “google alert” message in my gmail spam… I think their spam filter should be smarter than that!
The annoying thing is that I get around 300-400 spam messages a day. I try to look at them, but sometimes I can’t find the time, and after a few days I just delete the whole bunch. I hope I’m not missing on anything important.

OLED-Info widget

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Yeah, I’m really into widgets now ;-)

So I made a widget for oled-info, with the latest oled news. It’s pretty neat. I used the widgetbox platform, which was dead easy to use, and can be installed in many places, including iGoogle, netvibes and facebook. Anyway if you wanna stay updated with oled news, get the widget here.

You can also embed the widget in your blog or web site.

TripTouch widget

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Today we have released the TripTouch travel widget. It offers almost all the content and services in TripTouch (travel guide, restaurants, events, activities, travelers, utilities, accommodation) and can be used in personalized home page like iGoogle or netvibes. It’s pretty cool, I think ;-)
Check it out here, and tell me what you think…

Architecture

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

A lot of people has been asking me about what tools we are using for TripTouch (yeah Michael - that includes you…). So anyway check my post in the TT blog with all the details.

Dedicated server

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

We finally got our own server for TripTouch. It was a difficult decision, but finally we chose LiquidWeb as the host. It’s not easy because there are so many of those hosts, and many sites who have reviews and user testimonials, and monitoring - it’s just too much information.
The new server is actually a lot faster than the shared hosting we had before, and hopefully will be able to manage many more users. When we have them, that is ;-)

FaceBook / TripRecord

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Facebook (A social-network site) has opened up their site, and introduced the ‘facebook platform’. Basically it’s an API that let’s you write application for facebook. The idea is pretty cool, and there was a lot of press about it.

We at TripTouch decided to see what’s what, and wrote a small application called TripRecord. Basically it lets you choose the countries you visited, and it displays the list in your profile. Simple, but rather nice, we think.

The application is written using PHP. It’s actually hosted on our own servers. The facebook API is very easy to learn, and quite robust. The documentation is somewhat lacking. Luckily there’s an example in PHP and you can just test and try all sorts of things till you get it right.

If you have a facebook account, click here to get your country list. If you don’t have an account yet, try it - I really like Facebook, it’s an excellent site - those guys are brilliant.
