Drupal 5.8

Friday, July 25th, 2008

So I finally decided to make the move - upgrade all my drupal web sites from 4.7.4 to 5.8. I have 6 of those sites. It took me several days to actually succeeded in upgrading one of them… so many small bugs and stuff to sort out. But it worked in the end.

Anyway I already upgraded u3-info and expresscard-info, and will continue to upgrade the rest.

Metalgrass network update

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

I finally finished working on my current 5 sites.

OLED-Info has been updated to a CMS system (drupal). This was a lot of work (mainly to convert the old data), but it’s been worth it. Traffic has gone up, and page views has a doubled. Revenue has also doubled, more or less. I’ve got in touch with several more OLED companies, and should post some new interviews pretty soon.

U3, Spintronics and ExpressCard have been updated. I’ve made a new template (graphic wise). It looks lame, but it is at least consistent with my main sites, so it’s easier to work with. When/If the traffic will grow, I’ll have someone design the sites with good looking graphics.

Results of all this work? October has been the best month ever (both in AdSense revenue, and in total Metalgrass revenue).

So now I have to decide what to do next. More small sites? Or maybe start working on a larger-scoped project? Or invest even more time in OLED-Info? Not easy decisions.

U3-info is released…

Friday, May 19th, 2006

I just ‘released’ my new site into the network. U3-Info is a site all about a new USB flash drive technology, making the drives much smarter.

Unlike my previous sites, this one is built using the Drupal CMS tool, I have to say I’m quite impressed with what can be achieved with Drupal. I haven’t yet made any design (theme) changes, I’m using the default theme. But I think it looks good even as it is.

I have plans for two new web sites, then if everything works okay I will transform oled-info and mram-info into Drupal sites. Then I’ll probably come back to the new sites and work on their look and design.
