OLED interview

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

I just posted a really interesting interview with Fast2Light’s project manager. It’s a European research project, working on flexible OLED lights. I think it’s the most interesting interview I ever did, really gives good info.

OLED lamp story pickups

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

The OLED lamp story (on oled-info) has been picked up by several big blogs - Engadget, EcoGeek and Gizmodo. It’s the first time I sent a story to these blogs, and it’s nice to see they used it, and gave credit to OLED-Info.

This is really cool - I got some nice traffic, and hopefully Google will notice the links as well ;-)

World’s first OLED lamp

Check this out - the world’s first OLED lamp, and a beautiful design, too!

Packed day

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

It was a day filled with events. First of all, things in TripTouch looks good - hopefully I’ll have updates soon, but I can’t say more now.

Then my own server (which runs all my personal domains - RonMertens.com, Metalgrass.com, oled-info, mram-info, StartupIsrael, mertero.com, and more. It’s also running the CafeTouch website) was blocked for about 7 hours (I’m not sure why, actually) and it took me quite some time to get it back up.

On the plus side again, I crossed the 100-readers marks on one of my RSS feeds - the oled-info one (big surprise). It now has 104 readers according to FeedBurner.
Other cool news is tha I uploaded the nice cloud-over-mountain photos (from grindelwald) to Shutterstock, and they sold 2 copies daily for the previous 3 days, which is cool :-)

Michal and I also spent some time choosing things for our new bath in the new apartment - tiles, bathroom faucets and intert-putzes (or whatever it’s called). It’s so hard, but at the end we’ll have a good looking place I hope!

Anyway it’s time to go packing, we’re going to have a nice weekend up-north (in Amirim) to relax a bit and celebrate 5 years together (yeah, we’re hanging in there!)

The Economist

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

A few days ago Sony announced their OLED TV, and there have been hundreds of blog posts and on-line articles about it. It’s nice to see OLED featured in lot’s of places, including Israeli newspapers such as Ynet, globes and TheMarker.

OLED-Info got pretty good coverage, it was even mentioned in the Economist story about the OLED TV (check out the “websites” section on the right side). For about 3 days the traffic surged around 3X, and now it settled back to only a bit higher than normal. But there were many new links added to the site, which is great.

OLED-Info web store

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

I have opened a new web store in OLED-Info, with OLED using products (MP3 players, cell phones, cameras) and OLED related books. It’s pretty neat, it’s all done in the web using Amazon’s new aStore interface.

Metalgrass network update

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

I finally finished working on my current 5 sites.

OLED-Info has been updated to a CMS system (drupal). This was a lot of work (mainly to convert the old data), but it’s been worth it. Traffic has gone up, and page views has a doubled. Revenue has also doubled, more or less. I’ve got in touch with several more OLED companies, and should post some new interviews pretty soon.

U3, Spintronics and ExpressCard have been updated. I’ve made a new template (graphic wise). It looks lame, but it is at least consistent with my main sites, so it’s easier to work with. When/If the traffic will grow, I’ll have someone design the sites with good looking graphics.

Results of all this work? October has been the best month ever (both in AdSense revenue, and in total Metalgrass revenue).

So now I have to decide what to do next. More small sites? Or maybe start working on a larger-scoped project? Or invest even more time in OLED-Info? Not easy decisions.

OLED-Info updated!

Monday, September 18th, 2006

I finished updating OLED-Info, and the new site is on-line.

It took me a really long time, there was a huge amount of information to move, but I think it was worth it.

The new site should make it much easier for me to update!
