War in Gaza

Published by at 6:25 am under Personal

So – we have another war in Israel – after a few days of aerial bombing, today we entered ground troops to the Gaza strip, trying to stop the firing of rockets into Israel. Everybody here is pretty unanimous in their support for this war – we’ve had rockets for over 7 years, and it’s an impossible situation for a large portion of Southern Israel.

Me? I think we had no choice other than doing this, but I’m not sure if it’s a wise move. I’m just hoping for a quick ending and little bloodshed – especially on our side.

I think the situation here is extremely tragic.  The Palestinians are being played by other nations for years now (now it’s Iran’s turn). They could have had peace and relative freedom years ago, but they choose terror each time. When will they learn? Here’s an interesting opinion in WSJ, worth a read.

I’m not saying that we’re not to blame either – but we didn’t do anything that excuses terror attacks against civilians, or rocket strikes into Israeli cities. Gandhi said that freedom attained by violence is not worth it – and worse, it will only lead to a violent state. Maybe it’s time everybody reads his writings – both sides can learn a lot.
