A weekend in Bucharest, Romania
Hello, and welcome to my page about a weekend my father and I spent in Bucharest, Romania, in February 2005. My grandmother
(My father's mother, that is) was born and grew up in Romania, before she came to Israel. So it was interesting for me
to go there. Add to that a day of Skiing in Sinaya, and you can see it was a pretty good trip.

Bucharest
We landed in Bucharest, in the middle of the night, and went to the hotel - the Inter Continental. We had a room on the 20th
floor, which had some pretty good views. Bucharest was really cold and foggy, so you couldn't see much, but it was still
nice.
The first place I wanted to check out was my grandmother's building - in Carol Blvd, number 51. Or so the legend says, anyway. Not much to
look at, but it was still exciting to visit there. Just thinking that she lived there in the 20's and 30's! so weird.
Chauchesku house
One of the amazing sites in Bucharest is a huge palace built by Chauchesku. It is the second largest building in the world
(after the Pentagon). He never lived to actually see it being completed.
Museum
It was so cold outside, we went inside a museum. I'm not sure which one is that (It was a palace once, and now they turned
it into a Museum). The last picture is some nice building across the street...
Walkin'
We did a lot of walking around (my father complained for a bit). It is not the most beautiful of cities, but there are some
nice places, still.
